Abstract: |
Lake County, Ohio, (f. 1840) was formed when the seven northern townships of Geauga County, and Chagrin (now Willoughby) of Cuyahoga County, withdrew from their respective counties to form Lake County. The collection consists of lists of names of youth between the ages of 5 and 21 in eleven districts of Lake County's Painesville Township, along with names of parents or guardians. Some school enumerations for Madison Village are also included. |

Lake County, Ohio, (f. 1840) was formed when the seven northern townships of Geauga County, and Chagrin (now Willoughby) of Cuyahoga County, withdrew from their respective counties to form Lake County.
The Lake County, County Auditor School Enumerations Records, 1842-1865, consist of lists of names of youths between the ages of five and twenty-one in eleven districts of Lake County's Painesville Township, along with the names of the youths' parents or guardians. Also included are some school enumerations from Madison Village.
This collection will be useful to researchers studying the history of Lake County, Ohio, and its public education system there in the mid-nineteenth century. Genealogists might find this collection useful.
