Abstract:
James Scott Jenkins (b. 1842) was a soldier in the Iowa Infantry during the American Civil War. He served as company clerk for the Department of the Gulf. In 1885 he was on the staff of the Governor of Iowa. The collection consists of a transcript of a court inquiry concerning a magazine explosion in Mobile, Alabama, orders, inspection reports, and lists of regiments and staff of the Department of the Gulf.

Scope and Content

The James Scott Jenkins Papers, 1862-1885, consists of a transcript of a court inquiry concerning a magazine explosion in Mobile, Alabama, orders, inspection reports, and lists of regiments and staff of the Department of the Gulf.
