Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity is a professional fraternity in the field of music with collegiate chapters established throughout the United States and abroad. The fraternity was founded in 1909 at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music by three undergraduate students. The Founders were Hazel Wilson, Lorena Creamer, and Mable Dunn. Delta Omicron is the only organization of its kind founded by students for students. From 1909 to the present, twenty-six Delta Omicron national presidents have guided the fraternity to achieve and fulfill its purposes and objectives.
Located in the Greater Dayton area, the Zeta Chi Alumni Chapter was founded on February 14, 1967, at the Patterson Memorial Center. They started with 23 members and have grown to more than 50. Members are active in the Dayton Arts community, participating in various concerts and programs. They also regularly meet as a chapter, and with current collegiate Delta Omicron chapters.
Series 1, Correspondence, contains thank you notes and other correspondence from scholarship recipients and their universities, from 1986-1990.
Series 2, Publications, contains copies of The Wheel, the educational journal of Delta Omicron, covering the years 1964-1982. This series also has one copy of The Whistle, the Alumni Newsletter, dated May 1976, and is geared to the interests of alumni-at-large members.
Series 3, Scrapbooks, contains 18 scrapbooks covering the yearly happenings and activities of the Zeta Chi Alumni Chapter and its members. They begin in 1966 with the founding of the chapter, and continue through to 2006. Each scrapbook contains programs, photographs, certificates, clippings from newspapers and magazine articles, as well as correspondence.
