The Miami Valley Aero Historians Association was created in 1961. It was an informal organization which met in the homes of its members. There was a telephone committee whose role was to inform members of meeting dates and times. In 1963, the Central States Aero Historians Association was formed. In 1963, 1964, and 1965, dinner meetings were held. After 1965, this group became inactive.
The Miami Valley Aero Historians Records consist of cassette tapes and programs from the meetings of an informal group of aviation historians in the Miami Valley. Meetings and guest speakers addressed various topics of interest pertaining to aviation.
Series I: Programs, contains one copy of the program for the May 1965 meeting of the Association.
Series II: Cassette Tapes, contains cassette tapes of meetings of the association.

The Miami Valley Aero Historians Association Collection was accessioned into the Department of Archives and Special Collections in September of 1990. It was donated to the Archives by Bob Cavanagh, former member of the Miami Valley Aero Historians Association.
