History of National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 182

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) was created in 1889 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Prior to the union letter carriers worked ten to twelve hour days. The fight to win an eight hour work day was won in 1888, the movement would eventually become the National Association of Letter Carriers. The members of NALC Branch 182 were quick to join forces with the union and was created in Dayton, Ohio, February 1891. The local would come to be known at the "Gem City Branch". Per the NALC's website, Branch 182 is still an active local as of November 2018.
