Vincent Bliss Linn was born in Zanesville, Ohio on May 29, 1901 and was the son of Milman H. and Jane Davey Smith Linn. A lifelong resident of Zanesville, he attended Harvard University from 1919-1921. Linn was vice president of Zanesville Stoneware Company. He was first lieutenant in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Bailey Drug Company and served as a Republican State Central committee member. A member of the Putnam Presbyterian Church, he was also a longtime member of the Pioneer and Historical Society of Muskingum County. Linn died at the age of 93, on July 22, 1994.
The Vincent Bliss Linn papers contain manuscripts of writing relating to Ohio by Linn. They are dated around the early 1960s based on the envelopes the writings were stored in. The first box of the collection includes short stories, biographical sketches of family members, and essays. The second box includes typescripts for two novels. One of the essays reflects upon the Harvard University of the early 20th century and the later century. The first of the novels bears the title The Girl We Elected Mayor. The second, while untitled, is set during the flood of 1913.
