Biography of C. Stanley Mechem

C. Stanley Mechem was elected to the Ohio Senate in 1942 and served eleven consecutive terms from 1943 to 1965. He was elected President Pro-tem of the Ohio Senate in 1953 and continued as the ranking Republican leader until his retirement.

Scope and Content

The C. Stanley Mechem (CSM) scrapbooks span from 1951 to 1964 and include seven scrapbooks documenting CSM's political career. The scrapbooks include newspaper articles, photographs, and letters. The newspaper articles discuss CSM's life and family, and Ohio legislation.
