History of the Hecla Iron and Mining Company

The Hecla Iron and Mining Company was located in Lawrence County, Ohio near Ironton. It operated the Hecla Furnace until 1902 when the furnace was leased by the newly organized Hecla Charcoal Iron Company.

Scope and Content

The Hecla Iron and Mining Company Real Estate Ledger contains the valuation of real estate holdings of the company for the year 1900. The information is organized by township with the names of real estate owners, dates of land purchase and data of the transactions. It also includes a very detailed valuation of area of the land by civil engineer Fred G. Leete of Ironton, Ohio.
