Biography of Edward Stevens, Jr.

Edward Stevens, Jr. was a professor in the Department of Education at Ohio University. He was awarded as a Distinguished Professor in 1998. He is the author of several books on education.

Scope and Content

The Edward Stevens, Jr. (ES) papers span from the 1970s to the 1980s and document ES's academic and professional life. Manuscripts of books and scholarly articles, research and manuscript for his 1970 dissertation at the University of Rochester, research and notes, research on grants, book ownership data, overhead transparencies for lectures, course descriptions and computer disks. Books by ES represented include An Introduction to teaching: a question of commitment, The Rise of Literacy and the Common School in the United States, Justice, Ideology and Education, Literacy, Law and Social Order and Grammar of the Machine.
