Biography of George R. Klare

George R. Klare (GRK) was part of the Ohio University Department of Psychology faculty from 1954 to 1987. He was named Distinguished Professor of Psychology in 1978, and served as chair of the department from 1959 to 1963. He also served as acting dean and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and acting associate provost for graduate and research programs. GRK was author or co-author of five books, including "The Measurement of Readability," "A Manual for Readable Writing" and "How to Write Readable English." He also published numerous articles and book chapters on the subject of readability. GRK conducted multiple studies, including one on Air Force enlistees, to examine the effects of greater readability and outside influences on readability.
