History of The Finance and Administration

The Finance and Administration area at Ohio University oversees finance, budget planning and analysis, shared services, the controller, culinary and dining operations, the airport, printing and graphics services, facilities, safety and risk management and human resources. This office is the combination of several positions including Business Manager, Vice President for Business Affairs, Treasurer, Vice President for Administration, Vice President for Finance, and Vice President for Operations.

Finance and Administration records span from 1818 to 1997 and document the administrative and financial head offices that operate Ohio University. The collection is organized into six series: 1. Business Manager; 2. Treasurer; 3. Vice President for Administration; 4. Vice President of Business Affairs; 5. Vice President for Finance; and 6. Vice President for Operations.

1. Business Manager, 1947-1968

Scope and Content
Annual reports on the oversight of housing services, environmental services, supervising engineers and other facilities.


This series remains in its original arrangement.


2. Treasurer, 1818-1988

Scope and Content
Treasurer includes published Financial Reports from the Treasurer and Annual Reports of Student Funds, including the Treasurer's Journal (The Journal of Ohio University). It also contains the office files of John Milar including correspondence; memoranda; budgets; and reports.


This series remains in its original arrangement.


3. Vice President of Administration, 1960s-1990s

Scope and Content
Vice President for Administration contains the office files of William Culp and includes correspondence, memoranda, planning proposals, committee materials, booklets, brochures, and surveys.
