Biography of William Combe

William Combe was a British author of comedic and satirical poetry and imaginary letters. Employed as a propagandist by the Pitt Government from 1788-1806. He spent the later years of his life frequently imprisoned for debt.

Scope and Content

Document signed November 19, 1801 and impressed with English revenue stamp. The document is a receipt for payment of 52 pounds, 15 shillings, on account for "Captain Mackenzie's Works."
