Josiah Gilbert Holland was an American novelist and poet. He wrote the "Timothy Titcomb Letters" column at the Springfield, Massachusetts Republican and was a founder of Scribner's Magazine.
J. G. Holland letter to Miss Kirkendall, an 1883 graduate of Ohio University is handwritten and has accompanying envelope. Miss Kirkendall is Margaret Kirkendall Campbell. The letter is a response to one that Kirkendall wrote, and in it Holland denies being the person Kirkendall's friend remembers from a Connecticut school. The letter is accompanied by a handwritten transcript of the letter, and a letter from Kirkendall transmitting the letter to Ohio University.
