Warren G. Harding was the 29th president of the United States, serving from 1921 to 1923. A republican from Ohio, Harding was an influential newspaper owner and publisher of the Marion Daily Star, in Marion, Ohio. He retained ownership of this paper until 1923. He served on the Ohio Senate (1899-1903) and later as Lieutenant Governor of Ohio (1903-1905) and as a U.S. Senator (1915-1921).
Warren G. Harding's letters to Geo. Hildebrand (of the Ashland Chamber of Commerce in Ohio) are in response to letters sent by Hildebrand. The collection contains two letters dated February 10, 1919 and November 18, 1919. Harding thanks Hildebrand for his letters, clippings, and viewpoints. Of note is when Harding writes "...I am not taking the presidential matter at all seriously... I like the official life in the Senate and... would like to succeed myself as a member of that body."
