This collection contains correspondence between Cleeton and various individuals. Materials in the collection include tests in field of industrial management, course planning in industrial education for Carnegie Institute of Technology, instructor training for Personnel Administration Army Induction Testing and Scoring keys for American Transit Motor Ability Test. In addition there are 9 books authored by Cleeton in the AHAP bookcase.

Biography of Glen U. Cleeton

Glen Uriel Cleeton (July 2, 1895 - June 1, 1980) was born in Green City, Missouri. In 1917, he received his B.S. from Missouri State Teachers College. Cleeton then went on to receive his Masters and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Iowa. While in school from 1915-1922, Cleeton worked as a principal and superintendent of schools in Missouri and Iowa. After completing his doctorate, Cleeton took an instructor position at the Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1923 and became a professor in 1926. Cleeton consulted for a variety of businesses and corporations including Doubleday, American Transit Association, and Pitts. Ry. Company.

Cleeton authored a variety of articles in the industrial/organizational field on selection, promotion, and safety such as Rating Executives Ability and Suggested Outline for the Investigation of Discipline Problem Cases and Strikes Can Be Prevented (1950). He authored tests on work subjects such as 1942's Executive Personality Inventory and Executive Rating Scale. His major works include Executive Ability: Its Discovery and Development (1946), Making Work Human (1949), and General Printing (1953).

Scope and Content

This collection contains materials pertaining to Cleeton's tenure at Iowa State and the Carnegie Institute of Technology. In addition there are materials on the subject of instructor training for personnel administration, army induction testing and tests in the field of industrial management.
