American Psychological Association (APA) Presidents Oral History Project In the 1970s, the American Psychological Association (APA) Board of Directors approved an oral history project focusing primarily
on key figures in American psychology that were advanced in years. Another part of the project involved interviewing past
APA presidents. The APA historian continues to conduct these interviews. The APA archives hold the entire collection of
these interview tapes. You can search the APA online index of these oral histories at
http://apa.org/archives/oral.html for the archives transcripts or
http://www.apa.org/archives/sound.html to find the actual audio tapes.
American Psychological Association (APA) Veterans Administration Oral History Project This small collection of oral histories of psychologists associated with the Veterans Administration was donated to the Cummings Center for the History of Psychology by APA historian, Wade Pickren, who conducted the interviews during 2003-2004.
This small collection of two separate oral history projects conducted by the American Psychological Association (APA) includes eleven interview transcripts. The APA Presidents Oral History project transcripts are photocopies of the originals which are located in the APA archives, while the APA Veterans Administration oral histories include original typewritten and annotated transcripts.
The recordings of the Presidents Oral History project interviews are located in the Cummings Center's audio collection.
