Biography of Raymond F. Gale

Raymond F. Gale was a professor of humanistic psychology at Ball State University from 1962 until his retirement in 1983. Prior to his faculty appointment he had served as director of counseling at Ball State's Burris Laboratory, following several years of work as a teacher and school counselor in Illinois public schools, that included Dean of Faculty at Wayland Academy in Wisconsin from 1955-1957. Gale's research and writing focused on humanistic psychology, developmental psychology, and self-actualization.

The Raymond F. Gale Papers represent Gale's focus on developmental psychology and self-actualization. Included are early typescripts for what would later become Developmental Behavior: A Humanistic Approach to Becoming as well as typescripts for several unpublished works.
