History of Washington Area Marauder Men (WAMM)

The Washington Area Marauder Men (WAMM) is a chapter of the B-26 Marauder Historical Society organized to preserve the memory of the B-26 Marauder and associated service personnel. WAMM consists of veterans and anyone interested in the history of B-26 Marauders from the Washington, DC area. They published the guidebook, B-26 Marauder Memorial Guide, during an ongoing process of accumulating a comprehensive collection on memorials and monuments involving the B-26 Marauder and its service personnel.

Scope and Content

The Washington Area Marauder Men Collection consists of material used to compile the book B-26 Marauder Memorial Guide. This includes copies of photographs detailing the monuments dedicated to the B-26 and substantial notes on the location and their description taken from correspondence between friends of the B-26 Marauder Historical Society and members of WAMM from 1994-2009. Copies of published materials, namely the B-26 Marauder Memorial Guide and The Martin B-26 Marauder: A Bibliography and Guide to Research Sources, were physically separated from the collection, cataloged in The University of Akron Libraries Catalog, and shelved with the Special Collections books in Archival Services by Library of Congress call number.
