Biography of Rev. Edward B. Kotter
Rev. Edward Kotter was born in 1904. He made his preparatory study at St. Joseph College, Indiana and attended Mount St. Mary
Seminary in Cincinnati. Ordained May 30, 1931, by Archbishop John T. McNicholas at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral, he was first
assigned pastoral associate at St. Louis Church, Cincinnati, as well as teacher at Elder High School. Placed in charge of
convert work at the Catholic Lending Library in 1933, Rev. Kotter was also made spiritual director of the Legion of Mary Society
in 1939. He served as spiritual director for Mount St. Mary Seminary. After serving at the seminary for 22 years, in 1967
he was assigned as pastor of St. Monica Church, Cincinnati. When he retired in 1974, he was made associate pastor at St. Martin
Church, Cheviot. Rev. Edward Kotter died October 19, 1981.

The records in this collection are from Rev. Edward B. Kotter's personal collection and are largely from the 1940s-1960s.
Three boxes contain various papers, lecture notes, photographs, and newspaper clippings belonging to Rev. Kotter in the course
of his studies and work with the Legion of Mary. Group photographs include his time at the Dominican House of Studies and
Archdiocesan Board of the Cursillo
