Biography of McGowan Miller
McGowan Miller was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, on September 13, 1908. He first worked as a staff artist for the
Seattle Post-Intelligencer and later moved to Palm Springs, California, where he sold caricatures of movie stars to several
Hollywood magazines. He then moved to New Orleans where he freelanced for several publications. He then went to New York
City and joined Associated Press in 1941. Following service during World War II, Miller worked at King Features where he
did a number of comics including Comic Weekly Club Corner, Make It Fun, and Noah Numbskull. He was a charter member of the
National Cartoonists Society and received many awards, including the Silver T-Square, from this group. He died in New York
City on September 29, 1977
