James A. Miller was a long-time Cleveland resident and poet. He received a degree from Cleveland State University, but passed away while studying for his master's degree. He wrote over 300 poems and published nearly 50 of them between 1981-1993. Miller also won several poetry contests, including the Gamut Concrete Poetry Contest and Cleveland Magazine's poetry contest, both in 1983.

The James A. Miller Collection includes Miller's journals, manuscripts and notes, as well as Miller's completed novel, "Twilight of Such a Day, by James Soundpost" (publishing status unknown).
