History of the Helen Mauck Galbreath Memorial Chapel

Built in 1957, the Helen Mauck Galbreath Memorial Chapel was a gift to Ohio University from alumnus John Galbreath in remembrance of his first wife, Helen Mauck. The nondenominational chapel holds memorial services, bar mitzvahs, weddings, receptions, fraternity and sorority ceremonies and christenings. Cultural events such as organ concerts, poetry readings, lectures, and religious drama and art are also presented in the chapel.

The Helen Mauck Galbreath Memorial Chapel records span from 1958 to 1998 and document the activities of this chapel at Ohio University. The collection includes guest books, visitor registers, correspondence, newspaper clippings, printed programs, calendars, budgets, lists of weddings and wedding participants, photographs, and scrapbooks.
