Biography of Hiram Roy Wilson

Hiram Roy Wilson was a native of Hamden, Ohio, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio University in 1896 and his Master's degree in 1897. His Doctor of Letters degree was conferred upon him by Franklin College, Indiana, in 1911. Wilson joined the Ohio University faculty in 1897, first as a Professor of Chemistry and later became head of the English department in 1906. Retiring from Ohio University on September 1, 1945, Wilson had served for 49 years and was given the Professor Emeritus titled at that time. He died at the age of 89 on August 4, 1964.

The Hiram Roy Wilson personal papers span from around 1819 to 1951 and document Wilson's life as a professor at Ohio University. The collection is organized into eight series: 1. Family Items; 2.
