Biography of Hiram Roy Wilson

Hiram Roy Wilson was a native of Hamden, Ohio, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio University in 1896 and his Master's degree in 1897. His Doctor of Letters degree was conferred upon him by Franklin College, Indiana, in 1911. Wilson joined the Ohio University faculty in 1897, first as a Professor of Chemistry and later became head of the English department in 1906. Retiring from Ohio University on September 1, 1945, Wilson had served for 49 years and was given the Professor Emeritus titled at that time. He died at the age of 89 on August 4, 1964.

Papers include family genealogy records, Photographs, correspondence, membership cards and certificates, a diary, lecture notes for English and Literature courses, writings and notes on literature topics, copies of Wilson's published articles, books from his personal collection, and encapsulated items saved by Wilson.
