History of Working in Neighborhoods

WIN, Working in Neighborhoods, was founded by Sisters Barbara Busch and Judith Martinez in 1978. Its original aim was to assist low-income residents with housing, leadership development, and community organization. One appropriate slogan said the WIN sought to give "a hand up, not a handout." As the organization grew, it offered help to the elderly in procuring discounts on prescription drugs and also worked for accessible, affordable heath care for all. WIN'S method was to work in collaboration with federally funded groups and private charitable organizations. By 1999, WIN was offering assistance in 14 Cincinnati neighborhoods.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of five file folders containing, in part, annual reports, news clippings, newsletters, and historical information.
