History of Saint Joseph High School

This high school was in existence for only four years, 1984-1988, having only two graduating classes. Sister Rose Therese Wich was the Principal. The school was located on the West Mesa on the grounds of the University of Albuquerque in the former Davis House. Only 86 enrolled the first year since the school accepted only freshmen. Each year a grade was added. Even with all four grades, the enrollment was still just under 150 when it was closed by the Diocese. St. Joseph of the Rio Grande High School was absorbed by St. Pius X High School when it moved from its original campus in the Northeast Heights to the campus of the former University of Albuquerque which had closed in 1986.
