History of Akron Regional Development Board
The Akron Regional Development Board (ARDB) was formed in January of 1975 as the result of a merger between the Akron Area
Chamber of Commerce and the Area Progress Board. The organization's mission was to promote business and industrial development
as well as undertake promotional activities in the tri-county area. The ARDB's first executive director was C. Colmery Gibson.
The organization provided extensive consultation to law-making bodies and conducted studies on issues including Akron Public
School levies, city taxes, local business expansions, and state highways.
Scope and Content
The records consists of two series: Subject files and Photographs. The Subject files consist of programs and projects that
might improve the areas economics. The photographs are of local businesses.

The records consists of two series: Subject files and Photographs. Series I: Subject files is organized alphabetically by subject. Series II: Photographs is organized alphabetically by folder title then chronologically.
