Dr. Ralph Milkovich was a polymer scientist and polymer chemist and Professor of Polymer Science at The University of Akron.
As a pioneer in the synthesis of pure block and graft polymers, he has over 40 patents and is cited on many others. The Dr.
Ralph Milkovich Papers consist of information detailing Milkovich’s life and work and include resumes, CVs, obituaries, awards,

Biography of Dr. Ralph Milkovich
Dr. Ralph Milkovich was one of the first graduates from the doctoral program in polymer science at The University of Akron,
in 1959. After graduating from Duquesne University in 1951, Milkovich studied at Akron under the direction of Professor Maurice
Morton, first Director of The University of Akron’s Institute for Rubber Research. Dr. Milkovich was a forerunner in polymer
science and technology. He established the synthesis of pure block and graft polymers and has over 40 patents. Dr. Milkovich
received the American Chemical Society’s Award for Creative Innovations in April of 1985 before his death in June of the same
year. Married to Millicent Milkovich, he was head of the research and development division at PPG Industries of Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania at the time of his death at age 56.
